I’m Lucy and I run the Wimbledon, Raynes Park and Merton Park Monkey Music franchise for Monkey Music. I am delighted to be providing Monkey Music classes at the Building Blocks Nursery. I know that my love of music stems from having been involved in it from an early age. And I really believe that it is good for your soul. When I sing with the community choir, where I am a member, I forget everything else and my brain gets a rest from life in general. For our children the benefits are even more profound. I’m really fascinated and excited by the amazing advantages we can be bringing to our children through active engagement with music. Studies have shown that music affects the physical, emotional, and intellectual development of babies and children. It strengthens cognitive and sensory development and exposing your little one to music can activate the neural pathways responsible for many skills such as creativity and spatial intelligence. We know that children learn best when they are enjoying themselves so our classes captivate and educate through structured, social music making.
